Puerto Rican Festival
The standard for festivals in Cleveland is set by Cleveland’s beloved Puerto Rican community. Each year in the summer months the festival offers the most wonderful display of national pride in the form of visual arts, music, food, and dance.
Although Cleveland SGS has fond memories of the days when the event was located on W 14th, we feel the added space and privacy of its current location ensures a devoted and sincere crowd. All who attend come with purpose. Their participation in the festivities creates an intense and inviting atmosphere for three consecutive days.
Cleveland SGS salutes the Puerto Rican community for a wonderful annual event that is free and open to all. From what we witnessed this year we are convinced that the sentiments of Manuel Fernández Juncos live on today:
“La tierra de Borinquen
donde he nacido yo
es un jardin florido
de magico primor…”
–La Borinquena

Thank you for the inspiring and motivating words. It is comments such as yours that motivate us each year to produce the best that we can. We invite everyone to become part of the planning committee. I have said and will continue to say…” You make the difference”. This is our communitie’s event, a time to showcase and share our culture and herritage. We should be proud that people from other nationalities want to experience and celebrate with us. As far as the venue, we have grown! yes we miss being in our community, the W. 14th (El Hoyo), but this event is no longer a near westside event. We have people who come as far as West Virginia, Michigan and other neighboring states and besides the downtown backdrop is just beautiful, and more appealing to our sponsors. Without their support this event would not be possible.
Gracias por el video. Está bello!!! Que viva nuestro Pueblo!

Muchas gracias for participating and sharing your video with Julia de Burgos. We are proud of our festival and our traditions, but it is even more meaningful when we receive positive feedback from diverse audiences.
During this year festivities we payed homage to the founders and organizers of this 40th annual event since 1968. We are proud of our Cleveland Puerto Rican roots and cultural traditions and hope to continue to nurture them for many years to come. Muchas gracias for your support, and please continue to collabrate with us in these and other festivities to come. Que viva la cultura, y viva Puerto Rico.

I appreciated the opportunity to view this video ! I look forward every year to going, however, time has not permitted me to personally attend. I felt like I was there in person when I saw this great video. It was very professionally edited, background music appropriately filled in the feeling of fun and activities for the whole family, and will be a good tool for advertising and helping people from other communities to enjoy the rich cultural and proud heritage of our Puerto Rican brothers & sisters ! I will not miss next year

Thank you for sharing this video with us and your kind words on the festival. It makes me proud to know that our community appreciate the event and the hard work that all the volunteers, commitee members and board members do to make the event a success. Look forward to next year and invite everyone and anyone to come and join us to celebrate another year and plan another special event.

We too are proud that the Puerto Rican community, as well as many of Cleveland’s other ethnic communities, continues the wonderful tradition of celebrating their traditions and gifts to the country and Cleveland through the showcase of annual festivals. What a valuable gift you offer everyone in Greater Cleveland by recording these festivals in the manner in which you do. Your choice of music and your editing does, as a previous person wrote, make us feel like we were attending this festival. Thank you and continue on with your exciting work!
